Jakarta - Toll Padang-Pekanbaru is one of the national strategic projects. The work of this project is done in several stages and is targeted to be completed by 2025.

The first stage began last weekend which was marked by groundbreaking conducted directly by President Joko Widodo. The first stage is from Padang-Sicincin along 28 Km. Then the second stage of Sicincin-Payakumbuh along 78 km. Payakumbuh-Base along the 45 km, Pangkalan-Bangkinang along 56 km and the last Bangkinang-Pekanbaru along 37 Km.

The toll road segment, which has a total length of 254.8 Km, is part of 24 segments included in the Trans-Sumatera toll road. The development of Padang-Pekanbaru toll road will increase people's mobility and become Padang-Bukittinggi congestion parser that often happen, especially during Idul Fitri. This is because, the distance Padang-Pekanbaru which is usually 9 hours, will be taken within 3 hours.
