Indonesian Toll Road Association Supports Toll Tariff to be Decreased
Jakarta - Indonesian government is now processing the toll tariff to be decreased by choosing two best options. Those are simplification of vehicle category and extentional concession of toll road. Indonesian Toll Road Assocation (ATI) supports the options. As head of ATI, Fatchur Rahman says, ATI is ready to support what government do to decrease toll tariff. With decreasing the tolll tariff that is now seems too high, ATI is really sure it could help to reduce logistic distribution cost.
“We do support the government to toll tariff to be decreased so that the goods’ price will be more competitive,” said Fatchur.
Fatchur also conveys that ATI agree to suggest 50% discount for the category number III, IV and V in all the toll road in Indonesia which carry foods and fuel necessity.
Furthermore, Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Basoeki Hadimoeldjono estimates the decreasing of toll tariff could achieve 38%. This is because the two options that will apply further.
“It is 10-30% average. For category number IV and V possible to be higher, 22% minimum and 38% maximum, but it is only 3% of percentage,” Basoeki explained.
To simplify the classification of vehicle, category number III, IV and V will be merge. As another option, the category number II and III will be merge so does the category number IV and V. So, there will be just three categories of vehicle then.
Whereas the extention of concession is possible to be extend from 35-40 years to 50 years of concession. This is supported by the Government Regulation about the management of the state-owned property.
Beside the toll tariff, the government through Ministry of PUPR is discussing about tax holiday as another form of investation related to the toll road construction. This is similar to what Deputy of Finance Minister Mardiasmo says that they are ready to protect some of the plan regarding the programme.
