Lampung—Monday (5/14/2018) Ministry of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi visits Lampung to present the “Dialog Nasional Indonesia Maju” in University of Bandar Lampung. On this occasion, he predicts that Lampung which is gate of Sumatera Island in East welcoming million people who wants to “mudik”.

“2,3 millions people will pass through Lampung. 300 thousands cars and 180 thousands motorcycles passing through,” Budi said.

In order to expedite the mudik-return traffic in Sumatera Island, Budi says his department still focus on preparing the transportation infrastructure in Lampung. In this occasion, Budi also appeals to people stop using motorcycle to go to their hometown (mudik).

“The biggest obstacle is there are lots of people using motorcycle. Using motorcycle during mudik is dangerous, I don’t suggest it. I really mean it to people use bus and train but not motorcycle. 70% of accidents involve motorcycles. So, mudik using motorcycle is dangerous, not safety,” he explained.

By the extension of Lebaran (Ied Al Fitr) holiday, Budi appeals to people to go to their hometown earlier start from Day-7 to relieve traffic jump.
