Jakarta - On Februaary 21, Indonesia Government through the Minister of Public Works and Housing Basoeki Hadimoeldjono, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi and Minister of State-Owned enterprises Rini Soemarmo decided to suspend the entire of elevated construction work in Indonesia. Those construction works including the flyover, elevated toll road, LRT and MRT. The decision was made after 14 construction accodents occurred within the last two years.

LRT Palembang however, still optimistic to operate on time as well as the proclaimed date, August 2018 coinciding with the 2018 Asian Games.

“We think almost of the construction of the LRT in South Sumatera is already done. The progress entirely was already 86 percent. For the elevated works was nearly 100 percent. Hopefully, when the Asian Games is held, it has been operated,” said General Director of Railroads of Ministry of Transportation, Zulkifri.

Minister Basoeki explains, for priority projects will be prioritized to evaluated as the projects can immediately continue as well.

“We estimated, it won’t last for a year to stop. We will estimate which priority projects will be evaluated first,” he said.
