9 Dams from Government Project Completed This Year
Jakarta - The Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) targets nine dams to be completed in 2018. Basoeki Hadimuldjono said that nine dams are located in six provinces in Indonesia, namely NTT, NTB, Central Java, Riau Island, Banten and south Sulawesi.
“In March the Rotiklot dam in NTT are finished followed by Tanju , Mila, Bintang Bano in NTB, Gondang and Logung in Central Java, Sei Gong in Batam, Sindang Heula in Banten, and Paselloreng in South Sulawesi,” Basuki said.
Basuki said, the completion will be followed by irrigation construction which has water supply directly from the dam, called as premium irrigation. Thus the dam water supply that built with high cost will certainly stream down the farmers’ fields.
The existing Rotiklot dam in Belu Region has capacity of 3.3 million m3. It is useful for supply the raw water of 40 liters per second, and irrigation area of 139 hectares. The construction cost is 468 billion rupiah (IDR).
In Central Java Province, there are two dams that are targeted to complete in 2018. Gondang dam in Karanganyar Region has 9.15 million m3 of raw water, 0.2 liter storage per second that spent of 617 billion rupiah (IDR). Logung dam in Kudus Region has a storage capacity of 20.15 million m3 to irrigate land area of 2,281 hectare, 0.2 m3 raw water per second, and flood restraint. The construction cost reached 604 billion rupiah (IDR).
In Banten Province, Sindang Heula dam in Serang Region will be completed which has capacity of 9.26 million m3. The benefits are to stream the 1,000 ha irrigation land,
The Sei Gong Dam in Batam, Riau Islands has a capacity of 11.80 million m3 that will supply raw water in Batam Island of 0.4 m3 / sec. the construction costs is 238.44 billion rupiah. The construction expense 427 billion rupiah (IDR).
The last, Paselloreng Dam in Wajo Region, South Sulawesi which has capacity of 138 million m3, which use to irrigate 7,000 ha irrigated land, 0.3 m3 per second of raw water supply and flood restraint, built with a budget of 471 billion rupiah (IDR).
According to Basuki, the total funding for the nine dams construction has reached 3.84 trillion rupiah (IDR). Meanwhile, the total capacities of the nine dams reach 288 million m3.
Overall, the government has targeted dam’s construction that consists of 16 advance dams and 49 new dams. Dam construction is one of Nawa Cita government programme to achieve prosperity in terms of national security food and water.
