President Jokowi Inaugurates the First Toll in Lampung Province
Bakauheni - President Joko Widodo has inaugurated the toll road last week. In this occasion, he inaugurates the Trans Sumatera toll Bakauheni-Terbagi Besar Section 1 and Section 5. Section 1 is extending from Bakauheni Port to Simpang Susun Bakauheni and Section 5 from Lematang to Kota Baru Lampung
Within the inauguration , President Jokowi takes his time to try the Trans-Sumatra toll road using a truck. The President said that the people who want to pass through Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar will not be freed of cost untill the segmentsa are all connected.
"We will free the toll charge until all the segments of the toll roads are connected," Jokowi said.
The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basoeki Hadimuldjono previously states that the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar toll charge will be free for public during two weeks.
"Usually we will free the toll charge about two weeks, but then it depends on the President,” Basoeki explains.
Ministry Basoeki also explains about Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar, it will be charged 800 rupiah per 1 Km, or 7.000 to 8.000 rupiah, - the ceapest for group I.
Based on the physical progress of the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar Toll Road construction has reached above 60% and 90% land acquisition has reached overall. President Jokowi himself believes the construction of this toll will be completed on time eventhough there is few problem in land acquisition.
The Trans-Sumatera Toll Road construction for section Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar has 140.9 Km and expense 16.8 trillion rupiah (IDR). The President also expects this toll road supports the logistics and public transportation routes in Sumatera.
The completion target of the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar toll road is planned on June this year or just before the Asian Games 2018 due to ease the Asian Games 2018 transportation during the event.
"I targeted the toll road from Bakauheni to Palembang will be completed before the Asian Games in June," Jokowi said.
Besides the construction of toll roads in Sumatera, Jokowi also explains that the government is building several projects on Sumatera Island, which include the construction of Waysekampung Dam, which have been on going about 15% and also the construction of some of basic supporting infrastructures such as Ports, Power Plants and Airport.
"The infrastructure development will reduce logistic costs, so human goods will be cheap," Jokowi said. Development in Sumatra Island is expect to be completed at the end of 2018.
