Jakarta - Morowalis Airport inaugurate commenced by President Joko Widodo, the airport  present  is urgently  needed by people in Central Sulawesi area, by presence of Morowali Airport  is shorten travel time between other cities.

Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), Agus Santoso said that the current flight facilities both the land and air have been properly installed, even now some airlines have operated at this airport.

"The facilities are well functioning and human resources are ready to support , the safety, security  comfort of aviation as well,"  Agus said.

The construction of Morowali Airport began in wake of last  10 years ago, but in the last 3 years the work of this airport began to speed up. This makes connectivity in the district of Morowali to other cities more easily accessible to the community.

For the human resources of this Morowali Airport, will be assisted by local residents in the provision of airport jobs.

"Currently there are 28 human resources personnel at the airport, mostly from the local community. This is perfect, in accordance with the government policy of President Joko Widodo so that all infrastructure projects could also be united the local community. Thus the sense of belonging encourage from the community to the presence of this airport , " Agus stated.

Meanwhile, Regional Secretary of North Maluku Region, Jafar Hamid said that with the existence of this Morowali Airport the local residents  are shorten the travel time 30 minutes to 1 hour.

"The Morowali to Palu distances is 520 km away and normally  11-12 hours by car. While the distance of Posodan Kendari more than 300 km that can be taken 7-8 hours by car. And by plane is only take 30 minutes to 1 hour. So the communities here are very enthusiastic for the flight," Jafar said.

After being  innagurated and officially operated, the local government of Morowali will set the ground access vehichle for about 50 km. The provincial government has also undertaken land acquisition to increase airport runway expansion.
