PT Industri Kereta Api (Persero) or INKA is officially becoming the main vendor to LRT train series in South Sumatera and Jabodebek (Jakarta—Bogor—Depok—Bekasi). PT INKA win the procurement tender for this LRT project and target to start produces the LRT train series on July 2018 later.

“Jabodebek now (5/7/2018) we done to our costumer about the phases with INKA in engineering. Hoping we start the produces around July. On July, the manufacturer has been started to manufacture Jabodebek LRT,” said Production Director PT INKA Bayu Waskito.

For the deadline will be match to contract where on March 2019, PT INKA used to done their first shipping and for the total of LRT shipping will be complete on 2019. This LRT train series is also the first manufactured product from PT INKA that will be reviewed by the international.

Furthermore, Plan & Marketing Manager of City Transportation of PT INKA, Sigit Sugiarto says there will be differentiation between Jabodebek LRT series and South Sumatera LRT series.

For the differentiation is on the track where South Sumatera LRT will use 1.067 mm Track Narrow Gauge as usually used in regular train track and for Jabodebek LRT will use 1.435 mm Standard gate track.

South Sumatera LRT are going to have a driver to operate the LRT and for Jabodebek will implement the drive less or no need driver to operate the LRT.

“If Jabodebek LRT then no need a driver to operate the LRT. We implement drive less system. Since this is the first time for Palembang for having LRT, we still adopt manual system. If it is successful, we are going to make an innovation to Jabodebek LRT that targeted on the next year,” Sigit explained.
