Jakarta - The government plan to develop cities in Indonesia into an independent city seems to be one of the long-term plans to build cities in Indonesia to be better and orderly. This time the government plans the development of Padang City as an independent city that will be done in the near future.

Previously this independent city development successfully applied to New Town Maja, Lebak Banten which was realized in 2017 ago. In the National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2015-2019, it has been determined that 10 cities will be developed into self-government city, and one of them is Kota Padang.

Previously Dadang also said that originally aka tone two areas on the island of Sumatra which will be a new city independently, namely in Padang and Palembang. However, Padang City chosen to be a new city independently is due to the current condition of Padang City more urgent than the city of Palembang.
